What’s intriguing is that you often have to simultaneously manage all three factions within your colony to access the full spectrum of building options and strategic advantages. It is relatively brief, and the initial two-thirds feel like an extended tutorial before the action intensifies. It’s an interesting concept seldom seen in this type of game, but it can also pose issues when poor planning decisions persist unresolved before advancing to the next mission.

Transposing the familiar strategic economic simulation and city-building gameplay into a new futuristic setting genuinely revitalizes the franchise. While many of the core elements remain unchanged, the new emphasis on ecology adds a significant layer to the gameplay.
