Blood West Torrent is an action game developed and published by Hyperstrange. Strange West tales encounter eldritch terror in BLOOD WEST, an absorbing covert FPS. The Gorges, the Bog, and the Peaks. Each is teeming with loathsome creatures and infernal demons, these are open-ended realms for you to explore freely at your own pace. It will take the player over 20 hours on average to finish all three situations, and over 35 if they desire to witness everything the desolate lands have to provide.
Blood West Torrent is a furtive FPS influenced by the genre classics such as the Thief series (whose enthusiasts will be pleased to hear the voice of Stephen Russell, the actor embodying the master thief Garrett, returning here as the main character), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, or – from the contemporary selection – Hunt: Showdown. The gameplay commends the prudent approach: surveying the area, shadowing your adversaries, and attacking from the darkness. Can you devise a plan to clear a fortress full of ghouls and monsters without triggering an alert?
The Desolate Lands presents the player with a horrifying, contorted portrayal of the Wild West legends. The curse that has descended upon the realm has tainted every living entity and defiled the land itself while summoning restless spirits and shadowy entities. In this amalgamation of gunslinger pulp and Lovecraftian horror, dark arcane magic poses just as much of a menace as sudden lead poisoning.
In Blood West Torrent Magnet, you will encounter numerous vibrant, yet strangely warped, fully-voiced NPCs. Just as many captives of the Desolate Lands as you are, they will sometimes share their peculiar tales and dispatch you on various missions. Play amicably, and they might compensate you or become your comrades. Oppose them and risk their fury.
The game won’t coddle you. You’ll need to explore the land independently (acquiring a map from a vendor might prove advantageous!) and determine your personal method of approaching quests. While you explore the three extensive maps, be on the lookout for concealed places and clandestine hoards. There’s wealth in the peaks! A word of caution – it’s likely cursed.
If skulking around isn’t precisely your forte, or you sense that you possess a power advantage over your adversaries, you can always adopt the direct approach and confront your enemy with guns blazing. Blood West Torrent originates from the makers of the beloved boomer shooter POSTAL: Brain Damaged, so anticipate ample gratuitous fantasy violence and pixelated blood spatter!
A gunslinger without a firearm would be just a conventional slinger. Where’s the enjoyment in that? Blood West ensures you’ll have a plethora of weapons to choose from. Pistols, muskets, scatterguns, carbines – a diverse array of firearms, from regular army-issued to those imbued with potent magic, or outright possessed.
