The gameplay is much like the first Delta Force; it’s mainly about long-range sniping with some close-quarters combat. In many missions, you can advance slowly, picking off enemies from a distance until there are only a few left inside. Other missions are more time-sensitive. Rushing in is usually a bad idea, despite the game’s risky default mission waypoints. That’s why most missions take a bit of time, around 30 to 45 minutes on average. Plus, you can’t save during a mission, so if you mess up near the end, you have to start from scratch.
Another issue is the graphics engine. Delta Force 2 Torrent Magnet uses the enhanced Voxel Space 32 3D engine, which affects gameplay and limits its compatibility with certain graphics cards. The game’s graphics are grainy, making long-range combat a bit like searching for moving dots. And it only works well with 32-bit graphics cards, leaving out owners of Voodoo3 cards.
There are also some new features, like airborne insertions for certain missions, where you start with a parachute drop. It adds a bit of excitement, especially when you land near enemy patrols. The game’s interface has been improved too; you now have a minimap on screen at all times without losing space.
Delta Force 2 Torrent is a solid single-player game with a good multiplayer mode. If you have a compatible video card, it’s worth checking out. While it’s quite similar to the first game and doesn’t quite match its rating, Delta Force 2 offers great commando-style action for fans of tactical games.
