Killing Floor Torrent is a game where you and a group of up to five others team up to fight against waves of creatures that were created in a lab and have gotten loose, causing chaos in England. Even though they’re not technically zombies, they act a lot like them, wandering around in groups trying to eat people. Killing Floor is straightforward and fun, even though the graphics aren’t amazing because it started as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004. It doesn’t bother with things like stories, characters, or competitive multiplayer, but it’s great for killing zombies.
Playing Killing Floor is easy. You kill some creatures, buy better gear, and then do it all over again until you face off against “The Patriarch,” a tough enemy with lots of weapons and tricks. There’s no long story or complicated characters here, just shooting. The guns feel realistic, and aiming is important. You can’t just shoot wildly because ammo is scarce, especially on harder levels. To survive, you have to work with your teammates and use the environment to your advantage like welding doors shut to control where the creatures can come from. You also need to stay close to the trader between waves to buy more gear, but she only opens her shop for a short time.
At the beginning of each level, you pick one of six perks that give you special abilities, kind of like classes in other games. For example, medics can heal faster, and commandos are better with assault rifles. You earn experience for your perk by doing things that fit with it, like getting headshots for sharpshooters or burning enemies for firebugs.
Killing Floor Torrent has both single-player and multiplayer modes, but single-player is just for playing by yourself like you’re in a zombie movie. Multiplayer is all about working together with your team, but there are only five maps to play on. They’re big and have lots of places to explore, hide, and make your last stand. Working with your team is essential for survival, but there’s also a risk of teammates causing trouble. They might block your way or do other annoying things that make it harder to survive. And since there’s no friendly fire, you can’t even get back at them for it.
