Train Sim World 2 Torrent is a simulation game developed and published by Dovetail Games. The main game offers you three very different train routes to explore. You can pick from the Sand Patch Grade: one of the steepest train tracks in the United States, the Schnellfahrstrecke Köln: the German train superhighway that allows you to go up to 185 mph, and my favorite, The London Underground Bakerloo line.

You start your journey in the AC4400CW engine at Sand Patch Grade to get the hang of things. As you settle in, you quickly notice that this train has a lot of buttons. Luckily, the person guiding you through the game – a friendly British man – explains everything clearly.

The gameplay itself is quite simple when you break it down. Manage your speed and brakes, transport cargo or passengers, and complete tasks. Or you could have fun blowing the steam whistle, exploring what different switches do, and sometimes causing your engine to stop abruptly, failing the scenario.

The game controls well on a controller. You can look around with one stick, select objects with the buttons, and control speed and brakes with the other controls. It’s evident the game was initially designed for PC with the precision needed to select objects, but overall, the developers did a decent job of adapting it for consoles.

In Train Sim World 2’s Schnellfahrstrecke Köln in Germany, you get to control two types of high-speed passenger trains, including the DB BR 406 ICE 3M. This train has appeared in other train simulators before, but the level of detail here is impressive. As mentioned earlier, you can control every aspect of the trains. It feels great to speed down the track in snowy Germany at nearly 200 MPH, smoothly stop, open the passenger doors, and then speed off again.

Operating these high-speed trains challenges you to keep to a schedule while remembering your physics lessons. All trains follow the rule of taking longer to stop than typical vehicles, so when you’re driving one of these fast trains, you need to think about distance and speed. I found that applying the brakes when you’re about a half-mile away from the platform is a good spot for stopping in the right place.

But there are other factors to consider, such as the slope of the track and weather conditions. Stopping in snow or rain takes longer than in sunny weather because the train wheels have less grip on the track. With all these factors, the scenarios in this route offer a good mix of speed and challenge.

Train Sim World 2 excels in almost every aspect. Apart from the enjoyable gameplay, the visuals are impressive. Environments are detailed with moving vehicles, textures are mostly clear, and the train models are sleek both inside and out. The constant movement of passengers is also a nice touch, and though their appearances repeat, they still look good.
